Through the years of being a foster dog mom to a bunch of different dogs and dog behaviors, I have learned some of the languages rescue dogs use in their dog bios. A rescue will never say, “I am dog aggressive” or “I will snarl at men” or “I will ignore you and try to run away”. The flowery language can help in not to deter a new dog owner. Adult dogs need some love and time. Adult dogs, in my opinion, are better to adopt than puppies- you KNOW what you are getting. So many puppies have grown up to not be potty trained, have protective/violent breed characteristics, or have a weird quirk that is just too hard to get past as they age. With an adult dog you can be confident in the dog you are getting. That being said it is important not to look past a few difficult behaviors. So much can be trained out of them! Yet, it is important people know what they are signing up for. Taking on more than you can handle is a good way to stress yourself out for the next fifteen years.
