As a bisexual woman, I am so used to watching “The L Word” or “Kissing Jessica Stein” when I want to have my gay side represented. I can also enjoy straight TV shows with things like the movie “The Ugly Truth” and “The Bachelorette”. I am used to not seeing bisexual people represented. The only exceptions to this being some representation on Callie on Grays Anatomy, Angela from Bones, and Bo from Lost Girl. I never even try to seek out characters on reality shows or television because it feels impossible. The lack of media representation is a significant contributor to bi-invisibility and lack of understanding. This is why I was so unbelievably happy when I found Season 8, “Are you the one?

I love men and women, almost as much as I love trashy T.V. I used to… okay fine-I still do, watch episode after episode, of The Bachelorette and The Bachelor. I loved staring at the men and women. They were so incredibly beautiful and honestly that satiated my bisexuality enough, just to see beautiful people on television. But I did often wonder why the girls didn’t just get fed up with the guys on The Bachelor seasons and just kiss each other. Or why the men had to be so macho all the time. I tried to imagine some queer version of The Bachelor, but in my head, I kept realizing why it wouldn’t work, why would the contestants wait for the “star…
